Update LiveBuild
Donation: €50.000
Since 2015, LiveBuild is one of the organizations we donate to annually. This year, we were also able to donate a nice amount of €50,000 during Water & Wine.
The LiveBuild Foundation is committed to building water and education facilities in Cameroon. The ultimate goal is that villagers can provide for their own basic needs so that they too can use their full strength to improve their own lives and those of others.
Buea Town water project update:
Seven communities around Buea Town in the southwest of Cameroon do not have proper access to drinking water. To this day, the 15,500 residents of these communities queue for the small drinking water taps or depend on buying water in Jerrycans.

The Buea Town water system is now almost complete. The final touches are currently being put to the pipelines to the new taps. This means that approximately 19,000 residents now have access to clean drinking water. Where there used to be long queues at one or two taps, which occasionally provided water, a large proportion of residents now have a public tap within 100 meters of their home. This has significantly increased access to clean drinking water, especially for the elderly.
What have we done?
- Construction of a new ‘catchment’ at Upper Farms (uphill from the communities).
- Construction of support pillars in the ravines to support the water pipes and prevent possible damage from mudslides and water.
- Extension of water pipes in the network to supply multiple communities with water
- Construction of new public taps so that they are more accessible and people do not have to wait in line or have to wait less
The water system (the hardware) is now finished. In the coming years we will continue to work with the board of the water association on a financially sustainable management of the system. An equally important phase in all our projects.
